Just Airports London Heathrow Service

We just left London using the Just Airports car service to Heathrow. The driver was not only on time,
he was early and it was 5:00 AM. The car was immaculate, the driver spoke English and very courteous. I booked the car online for 38 lbs and ordered the middle size car. We had lots of room.
We had two people, two checked bags and hand bags. This was a great experience because our Uber service from our home city got lost and cancelled our pick up , which was a bad experience.

We did tip him, the service was great and much less of a hassle going via the train so early with all the steps.

A car booked in advance usually has a pre-agreed cost and is cheaper than a taxi. at 5 am you probably made good time to Heathrow. How long did it take? At 8 am it would have been a lot slower.
Just two comments:

  • "the driver spoke English". In England? What did you expect him to speak? I bet he didn't speak any other languages.
  • "I booked the car online for 38 lbs". 38 lbs of what? That is a heavy fare :-). "lb" is the abbreviation for pounds weight. I think you mean pounds money. In which case it is £38, or GBP 38 if you want to use the international banking code.

It took about 30 minutes to get from our hotel from the Marble Arch station to Terminal 2 at 5:00 AM.
There was all most no traffic in central London on the streets but there were on the "freeway" type of roads. Note that one of the tunnels that feeds into Heathrow was under some type of major maintenance and is shut down all night. It was opening up and we had to sit for 10 minutes in a small traffic jam because of this. The driver did tell us that this would be a slight delay. His information was correct and we arrived at the Terminal still in this 30 minute time.
Terminal 2 is very new. We had breakfast there which by the way, was very good. I do not expect much of airport food. All the stores etc, were humming and the terminal was full of people.
I remember the Heathrow of the 1970's and this is not the same place at all.

Chris, if you haven't been home for a few years you'd be amazed at the number of minicab drivers whose first, second or third language is not English.

I have to deal with quite a few of them in my work.

There is a consultation starting today in London about requiring minicab drivers to, among many things, pass an English language exam.
