JFK to LaGaurdia transfer

Has anyone done this transfer between airports in NYC? I did it 14 years ago and remember we took a bus but it was part of an organized trip. Just curious as to the cost and best method. Would have 7 hours from arrival at JFK to departure at LAG.

I would like to avoid this but looks like best fares for my open jaw flight (Frankfurt, Zurich with Char, NC) use this. A really good fare showed up today for next May and i'm debating to bite the bullet. Also, better to do the transfer going or coming? I'll have to look again but I believe it's on the return.
Thanks!

I'm so glad you asked. We are looking at an open-jaw flight into Dublin and out of London, and I found a much cheaper flight and wondered why. That's when I looked closely and found that it flew into JFK but out of Laguardia as well. I asked my husband how that would work and he guessed that they would bus you over. But he wasn't sure... I've never heard of this. I hope someone can answer this question! If it's $100 cheaper to take that flight, I don't mind a small commute IF it's organized by the airline...

My parents bought one of these fares with Delta. Delta told them that transportation between the 2 airports would be provided. When my parents arrived, however, the updated story was that NO transportation was provided and they had to hire a taxi to take them from one airport to another. I think the taxi was quite expensive.

Michael,

I did this transfer the other way around (LaGuardia to JFK). There are a couple different options all of which are outlined on the Port Authority Website. My wife and I took a shuttle bus between the two airports. The trip time was approximately 45mins and if I remember correctly about 15 dollars per person (it is cheaper if you book round trip). Hope this helps.

Just take a Cab. It's about a 20 minute ride in a cab ..the price can't be more than 40 bucks. If you have a 7 hour window it's a no brainer

Thanks for your thoughts everyone. I did look into the bus and it was pretty cheap and only an hour I think. I think i've actually found tickets that avoice NYC though.

USAir has a pretty decent rate today on my open jaw flight and it's non stop going to Frankfurt and one stop thru Philadelphia coming back ot Charlotte. Looks like i'll get to avoid that mess this time!
