We are flying out of Terminal 8 from JFK on December 24 to Barcelona--we flew out last December 24 to Rome. Place was a zoo and I'm expecting the same this year. We did not have an opportunity to have a sit-down meal in the terminal or even search around. This year, it's eight of us, and I'd like to have dinner at a sit-down restaurant. I see that there is a Shake Shack but I have no idea if it is a counter or restaurant. Does anyone have any knowledge/recommendations?

I fly in and out of T8 quite a bit.
Shake Shack is a fast food place. You order at the counter and pick up at the counter. There are tables.
There were a few restaurants but T8 is going through major renovation and many restaurants are shut temporarily.
The entire airport is a zoo with construction.
One thought...you could take the Airtrain to the TWA Hotel. They might have a sit down restaurant. However, if you are all flying in and meeting at T8, you'd all have to leave airside and they re-enter security to go to the hotel.

Thanks Frank. We four are meeting the other four somewhere in the zoo! Any sit-down restaurants with wine/beer?
Btw, I've searched T8's maps/restaurants, but the info is slim.

If you google JFK Terminal 8 food options, it lists what is available.

It's been a few years(maybe 3) but we had a good meal at a sit-down restaurant at the TWA Hotel. I think it was on the 2nd floor.
