JFK Parking

We have used smart park at JFK. They are in the same spot where the Parking Spot was.
PSpot moved to Newark.

I always price the private vs the airport lots and am regularly surprised at how reasonable it can be to park in the terminal structures. (almost always terminal 8 for me.) More than the private lots, yes. But not enough savings to make up for dealing with shuttles.

I posted a similar question a few weeks ago. Someone recommended SmartPark and another suggested renting a car. We'd never thought of a car rental. We checked into it and are renting a car for $154 (round trip) compared to parking at SP for $338.XX. I don't know why we didn't think of it before. It does require picking up the rental car which isn't a problem for us but could be for others and, on return, going through the process of picking up the car, but we have a fast track for that and then we have to return it which is a process, but insignificant.

I feel like the return to JFK (from international trips) is where efficiency/speed is the highest priority for me. My departures are always in the evening, so I have all day to get there. But returns somewhere between late morning and early/mid afternoon means I want to get out of Queens ASAP before the roads all turn into 5mph parking lots. (I take the Van Wyck -> Grand Central -> Whitestone -> Hutch.)
