JFK Customs

My flight from Heathrow lands at JFK at 5:20 and my connection leaves at 7:30. Will that be enough time to collect my bags and make it through customs/immigration to make my connection?

yes. While it can be a zoo two hours should cover if unless, of course, your plane is two hours late. But we have passed through JFK several times with an hour and half connects and make it.

It should be enough time. If you tell us which airline you are arriving on and departing on (and to where), we can give you more details about exactly how to make this transfer. JFK is huge with multiple terminals, so knowing exactly where you want to go makes things much easier.

Harold, I'll be flying from Heathrow to JFK, then from JFK to Charlotte.

Which airlines? There are 7 different terminals now in use at JFK, and without knowing the airline(s), I can't help you with transfer details. By the way, the same is true at Heathrow; flights from LHR to JFK leave from different terminals depending on the airline, and you need to know which one to go to.

"I'll be on Delta the whole way" Then you're in luck! Your flight from Heathrow and your flight to Charlotte will both be in Terminal 3. You will have to go through a security check to get to your second flight, but will not have to change terminal buildings. So, you should have enough time (of course, don't dawdle; you can rest once you're at your departure gate for Charlotte). The official website for JFK: http://www.panynj.gov/airports/jfk-airport-guide.html According to Heathrow's website, Delta flights to JFK leave from Terminal 4: http://www.heathrowairport.com/flight-information/destinations-and-airlines When getting to the airport, you need to know this. I forget all the details, but some trains or tubes don't go to T4, so if your taking one of these, you have to get the right one. And if you're taking a car service like Just Airports, they need to know which terminal to bring you to.
