JFK connection question

Delta recently changed my ATL-MAD direct flight to now connect through JFK (ATL-JFK-MAD). I would have 1hr35m in JFK. All Delta flights, no checked bags, all on one ticket. This is less than my usual comfort zone for a connection, especially since I'm connecting to an international flight. I've never been to JFK before but research indicates that I would arrive in terminal 4 and also depart for the international flight from terminal 4 - is this correct?

I'm trying to determine if it would be advisable to change to another flight or keep this itinerary.

That should be fine. Yea, less than I'd pick for myself, but barring anything major, it should be fine.

Glad to see you're getting to Spain after March's dashed hopes!

You should be ok. You might also be eligible to switch to another route for no charge if a more desirable one is available.

Delta operates exclusively out of terminal 4 now that terminal 2 has been closed for demolition. It is very easy to navigate. As long as your inbound flight to JFK is on time you will be just fine. Be sure to check in using your passport in Atlanta. Then even if you’re down to 45 minutes you should still be okay according to Delta’s website.

I fly Delta internationally out of JFK regularly.

I'm showing the 6:00 pm Delta flight is the only nonstop flight ATL-MAD. You don't say what date you're flying.

I just received a notice that my May, 2023 flight times LHR-HSV were changed. They had me flying LHR-DET-ATL-HSV on the return. I just called Delta and they changed me to LHR-ATL-HSV for free because I purchased the ticket thru Air France. The same flight purchased from AirFrance.com was substantially cheaper than buying the same flight on Delta.com.

JFK is one of those airports I avoid. I feel the same about ORD. But I understand Delta has spent a fortune on their JFK facilities/terminal.
