george,

Rather than take the Ferry from Liverpool to Dublin, you might consider using RyanAir from Ediburgh to Dublin, as the fares are as low as £29.99. However, the lowest fares I could find for the Liverpool-Dublin Ferry were £51 per person (and that doesn't include transportation from Liverpool to the boat, or the terminal in Dublin into the city).

Be sure to pack some rain gear, especially for Ireland. The weather will likely be somewhat mild, but probably a bit "damp".

Hopefully one of the group here will have information on any Passholder "supplements" that may be required on the train from London to Glascow.

You might consider visiting Edinburgh first and then Glascow. RyanAir also operates from there and they have flights listed for as low as £24.99 (of course these prices may vary depending on the exact date that you're travelling).

If you decide to travel by RyanAir, be sure to PACK LIGHT as they're very strict about baggage limits.

Good luck and happy travels!
