Itinerary suggestions: Germany & Salzburg

Wife & I are traveling. Sept 20-29 travel. Plan to get a German (twin) railpass.

I was thinking of this tentative itinerary. (I'm open to changing the order of cities).

Sept 20. Arrive at FRA. Take train to Berlin.
Sept 20-23 Stay in Berlin
Sept 23-25 Salzburg
Sept 25-27 Bodensee (Lake Constance) [or Triol/Bavaria]
Sept 27-28 Rhine Region
Sept 28 Stay at Frankfurt area hotel
Sept 29 Morning flight to USA

Wife has never been to Germany. I been twice but did Germany & Austria by car. Car is somewhat expensive and wife wants to go to Berlin.

This itinerary is quite tentative & we're open to suggestions.

You might want to post your itinerary over on To the West to get the best responses. This section here is more for transportation questions.

How are you getting from Berlin to Salzburg? That is a long trip.

Also, you are arriving from California, which is quite a long flight and then getting on a train for another 4 hours? The best train fares are when you book ahead, but then you can't change them. That means leaving a bit of time in between. It would be better to see the Rhein region after your arrival, then go to Berlin. You only have 2 and half days there too, which isn't very many. While in Berlin you might want to think about going to Dresden or Potsdam as side trips too.
