Itinerary at last minute - Eurail choices

I'm trying to figure out the best Eurail pass choices and a logical itinerary for a trip that starts for me in Berlin. Then I go overnite train to Paris where I'll meet my son, and after 4 days in Paris, overnite train to Venice with day trips nearby, then to Cinque Terra, Florence and flying out of Rome. I think I need a 3 country pass with 5 days of travel and my son needs France-Italy pass with 4 days of travel. Does the Paris to Venice, etc, order make sense? Thanks for any guidance. I'm a neophyte at European travel.

Steve--
Thanks for the great breakdown and for contact suggestion. Clearly, I need experienced advice. I'm speed-reading through Rick's "Back Door...", "Italy" and "Paris" books and am just getting to info you've so kindly given me. Many thanks.

There is an index at the back in the Rick Steves books, so you don't have to read the whole thing to get to the part you are interested in! There is also lots of other useful stuff in the back of the book: making phone calls, metric conversions, national holidays, etc.
