family of 4 planning 1st europe trip. Need to attend a wedding in london July 2013. We have 21 days 3 days for wedding. We would like to see london, paris, rome, venice and florence and cenquie tierre. Not sure where to start from flexibe with the schedule. We will be flying from US, any suggestions on itinenary will be helpful.
Hi Seema, welcome to our little family. Does 21 days include the day you leave the US? And the day you return? If so, you actually have 19 days you can at least partially use in Europe. You can't count the day you leave because you arrive overnight (usually) on the next day. You will have jetlag the day you arrive, and you will probably be meeting family, etc., that day and resting. So actually you have 18 days for sightseeing - minus the 3 for the wedding, which if like most big weddings I have seen will tire you out more - for at least some of your group. So, its a maximum of 15 days to see and enjoy London, Paris, Rome, Venice and Florence and the CT. In an ideal world you would give London at least 4 or 5 days, Paris and Rome the same; Venice at least 3 days, Florence at least 2, and the CT in July at least 2. So you want to do 20 days of sightseeing in 15. Except you still have to take account of travel between the cities. If you use the best possible combination of flying and trains, and use open jaws to fly into London and out of Rome, or the reverse, you are looking at at least half a day from London to Paris and a good half day between the close cities. Nearly a whole day into CT from anywhere but Florence, best part of a whole day from Paris to Venice or wherever you are starting in Italy. So, nearly 4 days will be used up in moving from one hotel to the next and getting adjusted. Now its only 11 days of actual get out there and look around sightseeing. I can understand why you would like to see it all, and take advantage of coming over for the wedding anyway, but can I suggest you may be looking at trying to cram in too much, too far apart, for the time you have available? Is it 4 adults? Any elderly? Any kids?
2 adults 2 kids 16 & 14. Do u recommend escorted tour maybe we can see more rather than planning by myself
Seema,
You might consider doing London & Paris on your own and then doing the RS Rome, Florence, and Venice tour. Of course that assumes one of his tours will fit into your schedule. CT is somewhat hard to get to, and as much as I like it, I think I'd save it for another trip. TC
ok i did some research and have a rough itinenary. Open jaws tickets are $300 more then a rt trip to london so decided to start with london and end in london. Fly from london to rome, easyjet 5 days in Rome with a day trip to florence Rome to Venice by train, please advise on trains, 3 days Venice to Paris suggestion on overnight train or fly, 4 days Paris to london via Eurostar. Also once we arrive at airport or the train station how do we get to the hotel, i assume via public transportaiton
