When I use the Trenitalia site to look up schedules I often get trains showing up "NA" I'm looking 3 months out, so I'm sure they are not sold out. Has anyone figured this out?
Ted, I suspect the schedules may not be posted yet for a date that far in the future. Check the schedules again, using a date about a month in the future and on the same day of the week you'll be travelling. Cheers!
Most schedules are only posted about 60 days in advance. You are too eager. Trains rarely, if ever sell not, and never in first class.
@ Frank: I reposted my request for dates of 02 April, same day of the week but only two weeks out. Still lots of NA's in the schedule. I'm looking at La Spezia to Siena. There are three stations in La Spezia (it sez...) so that might be related. However, in looking for trains from Milan I find the same phenomenon. The mystery continues...
Ted for La Spezia, you need to type in La Spezia Centrale. It's one of the few stops in Italy that requires a bit more information. Here's a sample link. http://orario.trenitalia.com/b2c/nppPriceTravelSolutions.do?car=0&stazin=la+spezia+centrale&stazout=siena&datag=20&datam=04&dataa=2011&timsh=05&stazin_r=Staz_DA&stazout_r=Staz_A&timsm=48&timsm_r=48&lang=en&nreq=5&channel=tcom&npag=1&lang_r=en&nreq_r=5&channel_r=tcom&npag_r=1&x=40&y=11
Your route is on regional trains. Trenitalia only shows fares for those trains up to seven days in advance. What you saw for 2 April are the timetables but no fares. The "NA" refers to the fares, not to trains being sold out. Regional trains cannot sell out. If all seats are taken, people are allowed to stand. Enter a date within the next seven days and you'll see both timetables and fares.
@ Tim: AHA!!! Thanks for that tip!
