Italy train strike - need to get from Florence to Pisa

There is a train strike set for July 6 at 9 pm for 24 hours as well as a public transportation strike on July 7.
We had a reservation to go from Rome to Florence July 7 at 7:30 am which can not be done now. I did find one train on the Trenitalia website which is guaranteed to run so I will change my reservation.

The problem is we already bought our tickets to climb the leaning tower that morning as well. Has anyone else gone from Florence to Pisa without public transportation or trains?Do any companies run buses? Renting a car is not an option. If so please advise, we leave in 4 days and need to figure this out right away.

I am afraid that the only solution that I can think of is for you to rent a vehicle WITH a driver. There are on-line sites that can help. Good luck!!

We've taken the bus several times in Italy, and it was enjoyable. Directly behind the main train station in Florence you will find the bus station - I am sure there is a bus from Florence to Pisa!

There is a strike for public transportation as well. All I can find for info on it is "July 7 -Local public transportation personnel will be on strike for 24 hours, starting at different times depending on the location".

If I take a Terravision bus to the Pisa airport, does anyone know how much a cab would be from there to the Leaning Tower area?? As well, how easy it would be to grab one for the way back?
Thanks!

Also, you might check into a private transfer that costs $52. CLICK HERE to see more info. I don't know how it works but you can check it out.

Once in Pisa, you can take the local bus from a stop just across the street from the train station. It will take you to the tower. Far less than a cab ride each way.

Troy, CLICK HERE to see a similar thread on this same subject. The third poster shows a link to the Trenitalia train site that shows which trains will be running during the strike. According to the Trenitalia site, they have an agreement with the unions for essential train runs during a strike. I do see runs from Florence to La Spezia which I'm sure stop in Pisa. Check it out.

I was just in Italy during a wonderful train stike. I was in Pisa and was supposed to go to Assisi. I missed my original Pisa to Florence train but the next train did run. Also the Eurostar from Florence to Rome was running. I'm not positive on this but I think there are some routes that have a few trains running. You'll just have to check with you arrive.
