Italy train strike

I posted this on the Italy page but thought folks here might have some ideas. We are currently booked on a fast train from Florence to Venice. The website says our train is scheduled to run but the staff at the train station but the staff was not certain. Any advice on anything else we can/should do?

Is your train on Italy or Trenitalia? My experience is that Italo never participates in strikes and rarely is a Trenitalia Freccia train halted for a strike.

My experience is that Italo never participates in strikes

That's because Italo is privately owned - the state run Trenitalia employees are all unionized.

At least one forum member has stated that Italo employees belong to the same unions , so it makes no difference.

I will try to find that thread, but there are so many of them on the strike situation.

I was in Rome this morning, and the reader board warned about the strike that begins tonight. It states that Italo is included.

It's Italy I should have known better, I'm now betting that the Vatican Bishops are unionized, as well

We have been advised of many strikes over the years but only affected once. (Took the bus that time.) Just have to wait to see what develops. Generally some trains are running. Never a complete shut down.

Just wanted to say thanks for the advice. Good news for us is that our train to Venice was not impacted by the strike. The current strike appears to be focused on smaller regional trains.
