italy to berner oberland - fly?

What is the least expensive and quickest way to get from Perugia Italy to Interlaken? Fly probably, but I can't find a flight. Does anyone know of an airline that flies into that area from Italy? Or a fast train Rome to Bern maybe? Thanks so much!

There are not a lot of good flight choices from either Perugia or Interlaken. You are looking to travel from a rural area in Italy to a rural area in Switzerland. You can do this on the train but its a 10.5hr journey and you will be on 4-5 different trains depending on the train run. It's even 7.0hrs from Venice so it's a long trip.

Melany, As Larry mentioned, you won't find any flight options for those two locations. In each case, you'd have to travel to larger centres, and then use trains to get to the desired destination. My choice on that route would be a train departing Perugia at 06:39, arriving Interlaken Ost at 14:28 (time 7H:49M, 3 changes, reservations compulsory on most legs). While that's a very early departure, you could pick up a sandwich (or whatever) at the station or on the train, so that would take care of breakfast. That would get you to Interlaken in mid-afternoon, which is just about the right time (IMO). Another option to consider (if you have the time), would be to stop for one night at an intermediate point between Perugia and Interaken (perhaps the C.T. or Stresa?). That would divide the overall journey into easier segments. Happy travels!
