Can someone tell us if we can make reservations for specific destinations in advance when purchasing a 3day/2month saverpass? We have not purchased the saverpass yet and want to be sure that we can make reservations once the saverpass is purchased.

If you want to make reservations before leaving home, you can do it through RailEurope or any of several other agencies. The in-Europe prices for reservations are 3€ for most trains but 15€ for EuroStar Italia trains (which you are likely to take). It will cost you even more through RailEurope.
However, train travel in Italy is relatively inexpensive so a railpass is rarely cost effective. Go to www.trenitalia.com/en/index.html. Enter a date within 60 days of today to get accurate timetables and fares for your routes. Look for Amica fares (20% off). If any of the allotted seats are still available, you can get Amica fares up to midnight of the day before departure. Even standard fares should be cheaper than a pass.
