Italy Bus Schedules - City to City (e.g. Siena to Florence)

Are there any websites that publish these?

First, Todd, why would you go by bus when there are regional trains that make the trip in 1½ hrs? But if you have to, Sita Bus shows connections on their website.

That's what Rick says to do. It's a little quicker, but I'm certainly not adverse to taking the train. What about from Siena to Rome?

In answer to Lee's question, the reason you might want to take the bus over the train is because the bus leaves from the center while the train station is much less convenient. Plus the fast bus is quicker than the train. "Corse rapide" is the fast bus and this is the one that you probably want. http://www.sitabus.it/sita-toscana/Firenze-Siena2010.pdf

Todd, Siena is one of those places where the bus is frequently better than the train. The Siena train station is a couple kilometers from the center. From Florence, where the bus and train station are just about next to each other, to Siena the bus is faster and leaves you at the top of the town.
From Siena to Rome the bus may be more convenient since it requires no changes. The train from Siena to Rome will reqire a change of trains and dragging your luggage. See http://www.sena.it/index_e.htm

You all are awesome. Thank you so much! Is there a website that shows the bus schedules, similar to the train websites?

My wife & I took the bus from Florence to Sienna for a day trip, it was very convenient. The bus stop in Sienna is at the top of the town and in Florence near the train station. If you take the train, you'll need to get a bus into Sienna. Hope this helps.

Todd, As some of the others have mentioned, the Bus is often better for that particular route as passengers are dropped in the centre of town, rather than at the train station which is at the bottom of the hill. I travelled by Bus on a previous visit to Siena, and the trip was actually quite pleasant. There are two "types" of Buses on that route, a "regular" Bus and the Corse Rapide Express Bus. The "fast" Buses typically have fewer trips per day, but if that works with your schedule, the travel time is not much different than by train. The Bus station in Florence is very close to Firenze S.M.N. rail station, so it's very convenient to get to. Happy travels!
