Italo question

When I look at the different classes, there’s Smart, Comfort, Prima and Club. However, when I go to book, it doesn’t have Comfort. That’s what I would prefer. Is it not offered all the time?

it could be the route, you could check with the Man in Seat 61

I don't think it's the route 'cause I checked several of them plus random dates both this month and in May when the OP is traveling. I'm wondering if it's a temporary, const-saving COVID thing due to reduced ridership but that's just a guess. Could be they're highlighting the "Salotto"enclosed lounge option more prominently due to the virus.

Oh, and I'd checked the Man in Seat 61 for a possible explanation too.

Thank guys! Kathy, thank you for investigating further. I went ahead and bought the Prima. I thought it would be fun for my sons to have something a little upgraded, since we’re always in coach on a plane. I’ve done 2 legs with Italo. Now I need to do one with Trenitalia. Do you know if there’s any difference with reserving on their website vs. Italiarail? I’m always leery of 3rd party sites.

Lulu, Trenitalia is the official site so that's what I'd use.
Very curious about the missing Italo comfort seat tier tho; would be interested to know exactly what the deal is with that.

Kathy, thanks. I find that railway a bit more intimidating with all the choices.

Lulu, keep in mind that there is no equivalent with train travel to economy seating on airlines. The standard, second class seat on a train is about equal to a business class seat on a plane. Also, in first class the big gain is much wider seats but leg room between seats is about the same. So don't assume seat comfort based on our prior airline trainings. The cheap seats on a train are far more comfortable than the cheap seats on a plane.
