Does anyone know of a site similar to TGV-Europe (used in France) that competes with Rail Europe in Italy? I found some helpfull difference in pricing with TGV & want to utilize similar in Italy. Thanks,
Ken / Fishnbiker
I have used the UK version of this site and found it ok.
There will probably be a small difference in price when compared with going direct to Trenitalia but you will find problems using US credit cards on their site.

PS - just had a play with the US Italiarail site and it is not as useful as the UK site eg it will not sell tickets for direct trains between Rome and Naples! Very odd as I was able to do this via the UK site.
PPS - realised that I had forgotten the change of timetable due soon and had looked at dates for which information is not yet available. Doh!!!
To expand on what Linda wrote, the Trenitalia site currently does not accept North American credit cards.
The good news is that the ticket machines in Italian train stations do accept North American credit cards and they have an English option. No need to stand in line at a ticket window.
While Trenitalia does offer some discount fares for high-speed trains using advance online booking, fares in Italy are quite reasonable, particularly for regional trains. Buying tickets as you go won't break the bank.
Go to the Trenitalia site to see both timetables and fares.
