I have been looking almost daily on the Trenitalia website to book 3 different trains and so far the only thing I get is a message that saids no solution found. I can find schedules and prices for each route a few days to a week before my dates so I think I am doing it right. Is this unusual? When can I expect to be able to book? My dates and routing..(all one way) are: 1- Sat June 15 Roma Termini to Chiusi-Chianciano Termini 2-Sat June 22 Chiusi-Chianciano Termini to Venezia Santa Lucia
3-Tues June 25 Venezia Santa Lucia to Ventimiglia. Thanks for any help...
Patience. It is Italy and they're late loading the summer schedule.
The semi-annual European train timetables go into effect on 9 June. Trenitalia is always the last national rail company to upload theirs. Keep checking the site every few days until they appear. You might have to wait until early May to book tickets. However, the times you see now for dates prior to 9 June should be virtually the same for 9 June and beyond.
Most of the trains between Roma Termini and Chiusi-Chianciano Terme are by Regionale trains with some InterCity trains. Regionale tickets can't be purchased earlier than a week in advance. I don't know exactly what times you are trying but you won;t be able to buy yet; and the timetables still haven't been loaded. Same problems with your trip to Venice. You will take a Regionale train to Firenze then a high speed. The Venezia to Ventimiglia segment will could be high speed to Milano then InterCity. Have a look in the next couple of weeks for the same day and time and that will give you the times, pretty close, and please be patient until the Italians get around to putting up their schedule. I'd keep trying so when they do you can jump.
