Perhaps the feature has been in place forever, but I just noticed the "time bar" when searching flights on Google's ITA website http://matrix.itasoftware.com/ It provides a graphic presentation of misery...very useful.
Can you clarify what you're referring to? I use it all the time and haven't noticed any changes. Don't know the difference between this and Google Flights...out of habit, I search the former.
Just a graphical presentation of the actual times in flight and time sitting in a connecting airport.
It must be a browser issue - I am on Safari (Mac) and although the text refers to it, I don't see it displayed. Probably my software/browser is way out of date. Can you confirm what browser you're using? I may install Chrome if I can't get it to work. I'm a big fan of visual displays of data/info, so I'm sure I'll really like this.
Many thanks! I do need to update my browser (and operating system). I just put off an update the other day - this will make me finally do it.
I also use ITA all the time to plot flights. Its total time in transit is an illustration that low price is not necessarily the best flight. And some times the shortest flights give you 45 minutes to change planes--not very safe.
Don't forget that the big legacy airlines are on ITA. Many of the new low cost airlines are not covered, and take more investigation to get the best price vs. time balance.
FYI--ITA Matrix and Google Flights are the same thing. Google Flights uses the ITA Matrix software it just has a different look.
