Can anyone give me an idea of what the public transportation is like on the Island of Ischia? I plan on a day trip to visit the thermal spas. Also, if you know, does a bus day pass that is bought in Sorrento work for the Island? I know the pass will work for the buses that travel the Amalfi Coast but wasn't sure about Ischia. Thanks. Linda
i was in ischia about 3 years ago. the bus system was good. reliable, frequent. although buses were very crowded especially at the end of the day heading home from a beach. i don't know for sure but i don't think a amalfi coast bus pass will work on ischia. i am sorry but i can't confirm that though. i did find some notes from my trip: Route CS circles island counterclockwise. Route CD circles clockwise and CS goes counterclockwise. Single tickets cost 1.20 Euro for up to 90 minutes, or 4 Euro for the dayBuses The CS and CD buses circle the island continually and stop at all the main towns. The CD bus has many fewer stops, it takes the CS bus twice as long to make the same route. The only part that gets complicated is that the bus stops have numbers only, not names.
which thermal spa do you plan to go to? i went to giardini poseidon and really liked it. enjoy!
Thank you for all this great information. As far as what thermal spa to visit, still planning that out. Negombo is the one I was leaning toward but maybe you can change my mind. What did you like about the Poseidon spa? Linda
well i only went to poseidon so it's hard to offer a comparision or pro/con kind of list. but what i liked was that the grounds were large....there were so many different pools and treatments....a peaceful cafe in the middle where i had a good lunch...it's own beach where i went to after spending hours in the thermal baths...all in all, very relaxing and pleasant day.
