Isar card in Munich

Has anyone had any recent experience with this? My family (3 adults and 1 infant) will be in Munich for 7 full days (Monday-Sunday). We were looking at getting this card to save some money but I'm a little confused. Do infants travel for free on all public transportation? If I am reading the Munich transportation website correctly it will cost us approximately 50 euros for the card when using all 16 rings, which includes the airport. One thing we like to do sometimes is to get on one line and follow it to the end so we were thinking that was the best option. Am I correct that each of the 3 adults would have to purchase a card? We are trying to find the best economical way for us to travel without spending upwards of 20 euros a day for the partner ticket. Can we purchase this card in the machines and use our credit card? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

According to MVV-Muenchen.de, the German side, "Kinder unter 6 Jahren fahren zum Nulltarif", children under 6 years old travel for free. If you want to take one of the lines to it's end, take the S8 to Herrsching. Andechs is a short distance from the station. There are buses to Andechs; some people say they walked it. Of course, when you go to the airport, you'll take a line, either the S1 or the S8, all the way to it's end. It looks like a 16 ring Isar card for €51,90 is valid for one person for one week, from midnight Monday morning until noon on the first workday of the next week. You can also take 3 children aged 6-14 with you after 9 AM M-F. You might also think about the Partner Gesamtnetz 3 day City Tour Card. It's €51,50 and valid all over for up to 5 people until 6 AM the fourth day. There is also an inner zone 3 day Partner City Tour Card for €29,90 and a 1 day inner zone Card for €16,90. This card gives discounts for over 30 venues. Read about it here. Unless you are staying way out in the suburbs, I can't believe you are going to need the Gesamtnetz card more then maybe three days - once to Dachau, once to the end of a line, and once to the airport. Of course, those three days would have to be consecutive. Everything else I can think of you might want to see - Marienplatz, Deutsches Museum, Pinokotheken, Nymphenburg - is in the inner zone.
