Seems like a web post to direct us to a advertising page for travel and leisure.
No, just a short article that I thought some might like to read. That's all.
Sharon - the info was helpful - thanks for sharing.
Because Travel + Leisure usually deals with very high-end travel, I wasn't sure what to expect them to say about traveling in coach. The article actually has some very good tips (though not much I haven't heard before). Don't be so suspicious, Marie.
I liked the article. Not much I didn't already know but still a pretty compact run-down of good rules to remember.
I linked over to their road-warrior resources and looked at noise-cancelling earphones, then linked to Amazon and think I'll buy some. I hadn't looked for awhile and good ones were really expensive the last time I thought about buying some. It seems the quality is improving and the cost is going down.
A recent Consumer Report (Dec or Jan) had an evaluation of noise canceling headphones. A $60 Panasonic in the ear out performed the Boise over the ear, $340 headphones.
Frank,
I received some of the Panasonic Noise Cancelling Ear Buds (the ones listed in Consumer Reports) and they do reduce the background noise considerably (although not entirely). The change is very dramatic when these are switched on! I'm still trying to decide if the high end performance is as good as the previous Ear Buds I was using, but overall the sound quality seems very good.
I looked at the Bose over-ear models and the other brand that Magellans offers, but wanted something smaller and easier to travel with so chose the Ear Bud approach. These often reside in my shirt pocket or my "crowded" Day pack, so the other models wouldn't be as easy (or light) to travel with.
I had occasion to try these out on a recent flight to Vegas and then to Seattle for the RS Tour Alum Reunions last weekend, and so far quite pleased with them. They'll definitely be in the Backpack on my next trip to Europe.
Cheers!
