Is the Eurail Scandinavian pass worth getting for to Oslo (Nutshell tour) Sweden and denmark?

I'm a bit stuck... trying to book nutshell tour ourselves, because we want to stay in Balenstrand a day or two extra and that doesn't seem to work on the Fjord trip. Wondering if getting the Eurail Scandinavian pass would be more convenient/save $ over booking separately? It seems like we still need to make rsvp
for trains... Thanks for your help!!

You can try pricing NSB tickets, do the math and see if a Euro Pass is financially advantageous. (Note that you can only book about 90 days in advance).

The first leg of the classic Nutshell route is Oslo S departing at 8;25am to Myrdal. Then transfering at Myrdal to Flåm arriving 14:25.

See NSB ticket pricing:

Note that if you are old (67+) the Senior fare is half the Standard Adult fare.

If you are not a Senior, the other option is the Minipris advance purchase discount which is dynamic:

The cost comparison will depend on the total of all train trips. Ticket prices can vary considerably, depending on when you buy tickets. Cost-per-day on the Scandinavia Pass goes down with more travel days. But it does not cover the ferry and bus portions of the Nutshell route, and just gives a 30% discount on the Myrdal-Flam train, so those will always be separate ticket purchases. Yes, longer trips in Sweden and Norway tend to need reservations on top of the pass price.

Short answer: It depends on how much you want to travel.
