Since Precheck and Global Entry weren't enough, now there is CLEAR. Which is somehow the same but different. Note that one of your credit cards may pay for a year of CLEAR if you think this sounds interesting.
Clear has been around for a few years.
I get CLEAR for free via a credit card. I don’t think I could justify it otherwise. Often in Atlanta the Clear precheck line is slower than precheck without cleat. ( I got in line once behind a man with a really loud obnoxious suit. After seeing how long the line was I got out of the clear line and went to the regular precheck line. As I put my luggage through the scanner and I turned around and that man was still about 30 people away from the clear check. and I was going through the scanner)
I get Clear for free. I also have Global Entry. It definitely would not be worth buying Clear to me because it is not at my smaller regional airport. In the handful of locales I have used it, I have gone through the Clear line (no one in line) and then been walked to the front of the TSA Precheck line to cut in front of the Precheck crowd.
The delay in Atlanta is waiting to get to the clear machine. You then go right on but …..
