I think you'd be better off purchasing separate tickets for the city's train and/or bus system. They are pretty cheap - probably equivalent to what it's like taking the bus around Columbus. Depending on how long you stay in a city, you might be able to get a local discounted ticket book or pass.
On my first trip to Europe, I bought a 5-day flexipass for Benelux, France, and Spain. I used the flexipass for the expensive, long trips between the countries, and while in Amsterdam, Paris, and Madrid (including London, which was a last-minute detour) I simply bought cheap individual tickets at the station.
Bottom line, I'd save the spendy eurail pass for country-to-country travel (or long distance travel within the country), and buy cheap local train/bus tickets (or simply walk) while in the cities.
