I will be in Paris the week 9-15 Sept. My daughters just realised that her exam results are out on the !2th.She really can't wait till she gets home to find out how she did. She can view her results on line, she has a pin number to do this. I believe internet cafes aren't very popular in Paris.Anyone any idea where to find one? Thanks.
Ask at your hotel. There is one near Rue Cler which I use. Some hotels have terminals available for internet use. You might Google something like 'internet cafes' and see what comes up.
Ellen, I was staying in the Rue Cler area of Paris, and had no difficulty finding an Internet Cafe (although the keyboard was considerably diffferent than anything else I had used in Europe). As the previous reply indicated, check at your Hotel as they will be aware of Net Cafes in that neighborhood.
Hope your daughters do well on their exams!
Cheers!
Check out this diagram to see the differences in a French keyboard layout. http://www.forlang.wsu.edu/help/kfrench.asp. One thing to remember....their right ALT key is not the same as the left ALT key. The right ALT key (known as ALT-Graphics or ALT-GR) operates different functions, including the all-important @ symbol (ALT-GR and 0)
If she can't find an internet cafe, try asking at a computer shop. I did that in a small town in the south of France, and worked just fine. Good thing I asked, though. It was in the back of a bar. I might not have noticed just walking by on the street.
Check with your hotel to see if they have a computer available to their guests, you may be able to buy some internet time with them. Also, she could ask the desk clerk if she could just briefly check for her exam results - s/he may let her use their computer for a couple of minutes.
Internet cafés are fairly common in Paris, at least in the 7th and 11th arrondisements that I stayed in.
