Hello,
I will hopefully be spending one or two nights in or around Interlaken near 28-29 June but need to be at the Dusseldorf airport the morning of 01 July. Would I be better off taking a train to Basel and renting a car for the German portion of the trip or perhaps an overnight train? When I go onto the rail sites for the German or Swiss railways they're great for their own respective countries but not so much for travel between them. Obviously I'm looking for the option that's a balance between inexpensive and convenient. Thanks in advance.
The Bahn website shows lots of connections on June 30 and July 1 from Interlaken Ost to Duesseldorf (spell the stations correctly) in about 6½-8 hours, but they don't have fares or online booking that far out. You can get a Europa-Spezial fare from €39 by booking online in advance up to 92 days in advance (book as soon as they become available to get the best fares).
