? Interior Temperature of Trains ?

In your experience, are the trains very cold/cool?
I am not planning on packing a coat, but do not want to
feel uncomfortable on the trains (night train included)
Should I bring a sweatshirt or sweater? thanks

Trains are typically more or less room temp, in my experience. Although personally, I would take some sort of light rain jacket on any trip, no matter what season, and I can't imagine a train being cool enough to need more than that. This includes night train experiences in austria and spain as well as day trains throughout much of western europe. I cannot speak for eastern europe.

I've traveled on night trains throughout all of Europe, and my experiences have been vast. Eastern European trains are often sweltering in the summer, central and west trains are sometimes A/C so can be a bit cool.

I tend to take a nice light to midweight fleece jacket. I can wear it when cold, or use it to beef up that skimpy tiny pillow that they give you. In case of rain, I just bring a cheap emergency poncho (one of those that comes in a compact little plastic bag and costs a buck or less). I've had to actually use it once..in Prague.

Hope my experiences help you decide!

I carry a sarong. It's those things that everyone wraps around them in Hawaii. They are very light and easy to pack. You can use it as a shawl, blanket, scarf, picnic blanket or emergency skirt.

I just came back from travelling around Western Europe and I found the trains quite hot. It didn't matter if it was a high/slow speed train, first/second class, I was very warm ( and I am usually cold all the time). Most trains I had to open the windows to get some cool air.
