Immigration/Customs in Europe

KLM cancelled the first leg of my flight. I was supposed to fly from LAX to Amsterdam via KLM with a 2.5 hour layover in Amsterdam then board a KLM to Rome. Now that my flight was cancelled, they have booked me on an Air France flight to Paris with a 2 hour layover, then an Air France Flight to Amsterdam with a 1 hour and 15 minute layover before flying KLM to Rome.

My question is where will I go through Customs and Immigration and will my luggage be checked through all the way to Rome or will I have to claim it where I go through Customs and Immigration? Any advise would be greatly appreciated appreciated as I leave on Thursday this week.

HI,
Even though you're flying separate (partner) airlines, it's all one ticket. Your luggage will be checked through to Rome.
You'll go through passport control in Paris, which is your first stop in the Schengen Zone. No passport control in Amsterdam or Rome.
You'll pick up your luggage in Rome and proceed through Customs there.

Cheers!

While not directly related to your question, depending on the date of your flight (which
you didn't include), you may be eligible for EC261 compensation, since you are on a
European carrier departing the US.

It depends on the reason for the cancellation, when you were informed of it, and how
late you arrive at your final destination compared to the original flight.
