Hi there, I am an Indian passport holder travelling to Germany (Kassel) in August 2012. I work in Qatar and the visa has been issued and stamped on my passport (30 days mutliple entry C category VISA) from the German Embassy in Qatar. I'll be hosted by my German friends for my 9 days stay in Kassel. I'll be travelling on ICE Frankfurt Flug Fe-Kassel Wilhelmshohe, assuming that i will buy the ticket on the spot at the ticket counter at the fernbahnof railway station. My questions are: Is it easy to find the fernbahnoff once i clear customs? Do you think it would help if i handover my passport open at the visa page along with the invitation letter (this is just to avoid any hassle) Any other documents or answers i need to be ready with? All tips and guidance will be well appreciated.
Thanks.
"Is it easy to find the fernbahnoff once i clear customs?". Yes. Just follow the signs.
1. Yes. 2. I would hand the passport open to the visa page if you have a lot of visa stamps in your passport. I don't see the harm in doing this.
3. I would not provide the invitation letter, but I would have it handy. They will ask if they would like to see it, but otherwise it will just get in the way.
"Is it easy to find the fernbahnoff " Depending on which airline you are using, you will arrive at Terminal 2 (Concourse D or E) or Terminal 1 (Concourse A, B, C). If you are arriving on Lufthansa, you will come into Terminal 1. The first thing you will do is to go through immigration. Access to the Fernbahnhof is from Terminal 1. If you come into Terminal 2, look for the signs for the Skyline to Terminal 1. It's a "people mover" that goes between the top floors of T2 and T1. There are escalators and elevators in T2 to the Skyline. When you arrive in T1 go down the escalators to the main hall. If you arrive at T1, proceed down the concourse to the main hall. There is a pedestrian bridge from the 2nd floor mezzanine on the left side of the main hall in T1 to the building across the access road. Use the signs to find the bridge. Go across the bridge and follow the hall and signs out to the Fernbahnhof.
It won't hurt to have your page open to the Visa stamp. I have lots of stamps in my passport and occasionally travel on business to China. I need a visa to do this. With multiple stamps to page through, I do open my passport to the correct page for the immigration person.
