Immigartion at UK

I am travelling from Mumbai, India to Newcastle in Great Britain. There is flight from Mumbai to Heathrow and a connecting British Airways domestic flight to Newcastle. My question is where will I have to go through my immigration? At Heathrow or at Newcastle?

I'm assuming you are traveling on an Indian passport. If you are, it's important to realize two things: 1. Most of the posters here are from the US and Canada. Of course some are from England or other European countries, but overall we will know much less about the immigration situation for Indian citizens. 2. Even if someone here claims to know all about immigration at Brussels Airport for Indian passport holders, the information here is not authoritative. If you run into trouble, saying "someone on line said I'd be fine" won't help. In your situation, it's important to check with official authorities or websites. I can authoritatively state that Belgium is part of the Schengen Agreement, and England is not. Thus, if Brussels allows transit passengers, you may not have to go through any immigration or need a transit visa there. BUT, not all countries allow transit passengers (the US does not - all passengers going through the US, even just to change planes, must go through immigration and customs formalities). And, as I said, the rules can be different for citizens of different countries.

We should note that at the moment and probably all through this summer immigration into the UK is a pain - at any port of entry. Even for EU citizens lines are long already. Heathrow is the biggest airport in the UK and therefore a hand full of immigration officers have to handle a few thousand more travelers every day than at smaller airports. Therefore connecting at a non-UK and probably even smaller airport to me sounds like a very good idea. To the best of my knowledge you do not need a Schengen visa to transfer flights at any Schengen-zone airport.
