If the ash cloud wasn't enough for me to worry about

Now there is a tropical depression coming up the Atlantic Coast. I leave on Thursday to Europe, hopefully I can make it out.

I swear I have the worst travel luck in the world. Every vacation I go on is a combintation of me being sick and rainy weather.

I went to Hawaii last year for 2 weeks and it rained every single day and I was sick the whole time.

Could be worse. My mother last went to Africa as a child during the colonial wars, and they had to catch the last flight out back to Europe to avoid being caught in a bloodbath. The flight was short a seat, so she rode in the cockpit. It would be a perfectly awesome story if it wasn't for the "fleeing a battle" bit. That and she had been violently ill the night before, having to stay up being fed pineapple (I guess it was an old remedy for whatever she had).

Her best friend went for a second honeymoon several years back (probably about 20 now!), and went on the pill to make sure she wouldn't bleed during their trip to an expensive resort on the beach. She resisted modern medical science and still bled, and became so sick she couldn't leave the hotel room the entire week.

My worry is the British Airways Strike as well as the volcano. We leave June 8 on BA which is one of the strike dates.

But a trip to Europe is a blessing and I expect it will happen. Remember the people who don't have these kinds of blessings such as the victims of earthquakes, wars and oil spills.
