iDTGV first or second class, backwards of forward seats, paris-nice

hi booking a seat paris-nice for this summer. Its 5.5 hours, so are 1class seats any comfier or is it same seats but 3 across as opposed to 4 across in 2nd? Also, it appears on seating plan that many seats face backwards,, we are travelling south so figure i want seats facing "downwards" as trains appear to have two engines, one on top( for trips north) and one for southward travel. How to guarantee seat facing forward, I get sick sitting backwards,, even on short journeys!

Hi pat. 1st class seats will be 3 across, also slightly larger and more leg room. Personal preference as to whether it is worth the extra cost. Most people find for an average size person, 2nd class is fine. As far as seats facing backwards, I have the same problem. The way I handle it is to just wait and see; if my seat is backward either grab an empty seat or ask somebody to switch - it's a good conversation starter and many people don't care and will be glad to switch. Enjoy your trip!
