Icelandair and KTN

It's been a long time since I've flown Icelandair. I forgot how too add my Known Traveler Number to my reservation. Anyone care to remind me?

I have a flight with Icelandair in September. Their website states that you have to call the customer support center in order to have a known traveler number added. I will be doing that when it opens tomorrow. Thanks for bringing this opportunity and advantage to my attention.

I know you can do this online. I flew them in May and did so. If I remember correctly, it was during the check in process that it became easier to update information. Before that, I couldn’t change my frequent flier program no matter how hard I tried. Once I began the actual check in process, it became possible to fill in data and change programs.

There might have been a change since May, but I doubt it.

I'm not asking about frequent flyer program. I'm asking how to add my Trusted Traveler/Known Traveler number for TSA Precheck.

I understand that Frank. My point was that it may not be possible to do this until the actual check in process is happening. I’m sorry my example seemed like I didn’t understand your question.

1st: check online if your TSA precheck is still active. Mine expired after 5 years.
2nd: this "privilege" is only useful when returning to the USA. Even then, you might be checked twice in Keflavik.
3rd: Icelandair does not need your precheck number. It does not add anything to the flight.

Wolfgang, you're confusing TSA Precheck with Global Entry.

TSA Precheck is what is used at security at an American airport. It is not good anywhere else. Global Entry is for entry back into the USA.

But I have to wonder, with the new facial recognition process at Global Entry, are they matching me to my flight via the KTN? If I remember correctly, on the slip of paper given to me after using the machine, my fight information is on it.

Icelandair site says to contact customer service

TSA Precheck is now available with Icelandair.

Please contact our Service Center to be able to add your KTN or TSA number to your booking.

For more information visit the Transportation Security Administration’s website here: https://www.tsa.gov/precheck.

Today I contacted Icelandair customer service who added my known traveler number very quickly and very courteously. I inquired about being able to do this online for which the answer was yes. However, neither the agent nor I were able to identify where this option was available.

It took less than three minutes to reach an agent after dialing their number.

I called Icelandair this morning. I had no wait to talk to someone. He added my number. I asked if there was a way to add it online. He wasn't sure. (I still think there is a way to do it at check in but I'd rather it be done now.) The entire call took less than 2.5 minutes.

I'm glad it is sorted. I have also been pleased with the customer service at Iceland Air. I hope you have a pleasant journey and a great time in Iceland.

Icelandair seems to run an efficient ship. I've been to Iceland numerous times and always via Icelandair. It's the only airline I know that doesn't let you store your KTN in your FF profile.

I had also sent an email yesterday about my adding my KTN but the automated response I got said they are only looking at emails regarding flights within 48 hours of departure. So I called. Sure enough, a little while later, I got an email response saying they see my number had already been added.

The other airlines could learn something regarding customer service
