Iceland express, easyjet.com billing question

Hi, I was just billed $39 for transfer fee (?) for booking online at iceland express.com. Is this normal? Will this be charged every time I book a flight online at websites run by other countries? How would I know which one's which? Is there anyway that I can receive the transfer fee back from the bank? Please let me know. Thanks

Bo,

Is the fee you are referring to on your credit card statement? If so,is it the foreign transaction fee? The "standard" fee on credit cards for foreign transactions is 3%. There are credit cards that charge lower percentages or no fee for foreign transactions (e.g. Capital One).

If your credit card charges such a fee, they will charge it on every foreign transaction. To avoid it, switch to a different card provider.

Anytime you make a purchase in a foreign country in that country's currency, it's considered a foreign transaction. (Unless, for some reason you're being charged by that company in U.S. dollars.)

No frills airlines over here have charged fees for using a credit card for a while now. In the case of Ryanair it is per person flying rather than per card transaction!

Booked a flight to Bologna about a week ago and for the first time BA hit me with a cc fee so even they are getting in on the act.
