We will be flying Iceland Air this fall to France. for their Saga Premium class, they indicate there is an amenity bag, including headphones. Anyone used these lately? How well do they work to block out plane noise for sleeping?
I have not done this, but I would expect that their disposable phones will be a very cheap pair of earbuds which will never block out noise.
Somewhat dumbfounded about previous post. I have flown Saga Class before and the provided headphones are pretty much on par with the Bose noise cancelling I used to have. Noise cancelling really means noise reducing. They are not cheap earbuds, but they are not going to drown out all noise.
How well will they work to block out noise for sleeping versus helping you listen to a movie better depends on how easily you sleep on a plane, but the two kinds of applications require tech that is designed to do different things. Three options: 1) Take a chance; 2) get a really comfortable (!!!) set of over the ear premium headphones that will block out outside noise with any kind of white noise generator, (classical string ensembles for example), but they are bulky; 3) My wife just discovered that there are now bluetooth audio adaptors that can be plugged into airplane headphone sockets that will connect with AirPods - which are themselves very good at noise suppression.
We will be flying Saga class to Iceland in July. I’ll post something then. I have a Bose over-the-ear noise-canceling headset that has traveled many miles with me. It’s the best I’ve found, but gets bulky after about six hours in the air. I’m taking my new AirPods, too, so I should have some comparisons for you. Caveat: I never sleep well on planes, so am always hoping for a magic potion…
You will be given a set of noise cancelling over the ear headphones that work fairly well. But they are over the ear so if you are a side sleeper that could be a problem.
You don't get to keep them. You have to give them back.
I also travel with Bose earbuds that I use to listen/watch things on my phone and theirs to watch entertainment on their system.
