I have questions about car rentals, GPS & fuel?

We will be traveling in Great Britian in November and plan on renting a car. We currently have a Garmin Nuvi 360 and are wondering about taking it. Will the the charger fit in the rental car? Is it difficult to find gas stations and can you pay with credit card? And last, does anyone know the current cost of gas? Thank you!

Your rental car company can tell you if the 360
will work in your car. Gas stations are plentiful
and you can us credit cards. Gas is probably at
least $8.00 a gallon and who knows in November.

The rental car should have the same kind of 12V plug that you have in your own car. Of course you'll need the maps for Great Britain. There are lots of gas stations (many like our "mini-marts", with a little store/snack bar). I don't know about Great Britain right now, but in Spain in late May the cost of gas was .95 euro/liter, depending on the grade. This translates to $1.31/liter. And four liters is just over 1 gal, so it's a little less than $5.24/gal.

Your Garmin Nuvi 360 is constructed for cars using a 12v negative earth battery. That is what is used over here so there will be no problems. There are more gas stations than you can shake a stick at and they all take Visa and Mastercard and most take Amex and DC. The current price of gas varies according to where you are in the UK but it is currently around £1.95 a litre. As the USD is roughly at a rate of 2 USD = 1 GBP that means you are looking at around 4 USD per litre in the UK. It's worth remembering that most medium sized rental cars in the UK are diesels so you will get a better milage return than gasoline models. Just remember to check with the rental company before you drive off and if you do have a diesel don't put gas in when you fill up.
