I got my Global Entry Interview!

I just wanted to share with others who would understand my excitement that I received notice that I could set up my interview for Global Entry. I can't even remember when I applied. I just know it was pre-pandemic. When I went to schedule, there were only three days available, and then January was marked as unavailable. So I jumped on the last December dates!

I realize that I can't go anywhere, but I'm taking this as a sign that things are looking up.

Happy holidays everyone!

Congratulations! We just applied for ours a few weeks ago. They indicated it would be at least 6 months before we could expect to hear anything. We're hoping to travel in August or September...

We were so lucky, we were able to schedule our interview the week after we applied and got our cards with in a week afterwards! it was a piece of cake. Not traveling in 2021 but at least we've got them so wee are ready to go!

My wife and I applied for renewal about a year ago. Mine came through very quickly, then Covid shut everything down. My wife's came through this week. Such a long variation in processing time seemed odd, especially because the travel we reported for the past five years was nearly the same. But no complaints, and no interview on the renewal. Now all we need is a chance to use it! Congratulations, Ladyvet, we'll look forward to seeing you at a GE kiosk somewhere. ;-)

I think Global Entry might have adjusted their locations and dates. I applied right before COVID in early 2020. At that point, the earliest interview close to me was June 2020. Well, that didn't happen nor did the trip. A few months ago, I checked and it was June 2021. A couple of weeks ago, it was March 2021 and I grabbed it. While I've been getting tons of emails that I could do the interview on my way BACK into the USA, I really wanted to use the benefits on all my travels. Very happy that more dates opened up.

Good news! I hope the interview (ours seemed more like a routine finishing of processing the application than an “interview”) goes quickly and easily, and that you’ll be able to use your new Global Entry status on travel before long. Passing lines of people waiting to get thru the re-entry process when returning home, and marching right up to the Global Entry terminals has been rewarding!

The interview is done! It was a two hour drive (one way) for an eight minute interview, but we made the most of it by doing some shopping and eating in the "big city."

Now let's get things fixed so I can get on a plane to Italy!

That's some great optimism on your part. I've been wanting to apply for for Global Entry myself but since the pandemic hit, I put that and all my travel dreams and plans on hold. Now that we can start lining up for our vaccination shots, I may just start my own process once I get my shot and cases of Covid 19 start going down.

Sorry to hijack this thread but you all seem to know. I'm trying to make my Global Entry interview appointment but when I go to the scheduling page, the message for the two closest airports (BWI and PHL) states, "No appointments available for this location." I'm guessing that due to COVID they have stopped holding interviews altogether and are not allowing any scheduling for later dates?

PHJ, does the Website not have some blanket notice that interviews aren’t happening? That’s not helpful.

What if you put in a few more airports ... in other parts of the country, as a test? Are they wide open, and it’s just BWI and PHL that seem to be ambiguously unavailable?

There is no blanket notice. Yes, some other airports have appointments, seems like some of the smaller ones. Guess we'll just have to wait and see.
