Definite airport strikes in Italy on Sept 24….

https://www.theflightclub.it/en/2024/09/airplane-strike-sept-24-flights-guaranteed/

I came across this today, but have no idea if it is true as I’ve never heard of this website.
It says that major airports in Italy will have an all day strike Tuesday Sept 24th…mostly cargo and baggage handling from what I can make out, but other services too.

Does anyone have any further information or confirmation about it?
I’m landing in Rome that evening……might be changing to go carryon and not check a bag.
Thanks.

Edited: to “definite” now.

This September 24 strike is official.

Easyjet, Wizz Air, Air Dolomiti unions have filed strike notices for September 24. The flights of those airlines are likely to be canceled.
Baggage handlers at Milan’s Linate and Malpensa Airport’s ( LIN and MXP) will be on strike.
“Staff” will be on strike at Rome FCO.

Airports targeted include Rome FCO, Milan ( Linate and Malpensa), Bologna, Venice, and Bergamo, Olbia ( OLB) —- so many that it looks like the entire air transportation system will become chaotic on
on September 24.

For the general public, September 24 looks like a day to avoid flying domestically within Italy.

I’m only in Rome overnight and going south the next morning, so……back to carryon only to be safe!
Thanks for the help. :)

Traveling with just a carry-on, and the personal item is the answer.

There may be a surge in cargo shorts sales in Italy!

If the flight is cancelled (I had this experience in 2023), then having a carry-on won't be of help.
Be sure to check in with your airline often--mine did not notify me and I got the news as I checked in for my international flight (the connecting flight on Air Dolomiti was the cancelled flight, and Lufthansa never notified me--it completely ruined my plans).
