How to Use Google Flights -- from The Points Guy

When people ask about finding flights, one of the recommendations is to use Google Flights. It's where I always start and I'm one of those who recommends it. However, none of us can do a complete "how to" due to the more specific nature of many flight questions.

Today I saw this detailed guide, complete with illustrations, to using Google Flights on The Points Guy and thought it would helpful to many. I hope it helps.

How to use Google Flights to find cheap flights and maximize your next travel booking. Here's the link.

Google flights has become our go to search engine for finding flights. Of course we then book through the airline. Very good article.

I still am partial to Matrix ITA, that Google also bought some years ago. It is the old travel agent flight planning software. It may be familiarity, but I also find some parts of GG to be annoying.
1. I am Canadian and don't need to be routed through the US for international but that is what GF tries to do.
2. The 'anywhere' option is annoying as it lists the cheapest flight, but they are often extremely inconvenient. Any cost savings is lost with several stops or long layovers requiring hotel stays. Okay, I am 65 so I don't want to be sleeping on airport benches anymore.
However, the article explained a few features I could use...like when separate one way tickets is a best price.
