England: How to locate various train stops in between major cities shown?

Where can I find the different stops in England on a train route, say York to London? Example: I will be in Market Harbourgh and plan to go to London. What is nearest? Debbie

If you have a phone get the National Rail Inquires APP.
Once you click the Planner button, a couple of boxes appear for start and end of journey.
As you start typing it auto completes town names with stations
Yes Market Harborough has a station.
Once you have start and end figured ,you can then click details and it gives you all intermediate stops

Market Harbourgh is on the Midland Main Line - not the East Coast line from York to London.

Two trains an hour into St Pancras.

Debbie, Your question is a bit back-to-front. What you are asking is "How do I get from Market Harborough to London by train?".
The answer is go to the National Rail website ( http://www.nationalrail.co.uk/ ), enter Market Harborough to London, plus date and time and it will tell you. Choose a train, click on "details" and "Show calling points" and it will list all the intermediate stops.
You can assume any town of a reasonable size will have a station.
To see all the routes and stations. see the map Sam posted.

Thank you all for your information. When I pull up the map, I don't get city names, only lines. Am I doing something wrong? I appreciate the information about the line and knowing there is a station in Market Harbough. Also, I did go to the rail site and they won't show me anything yet for July 3. Too early for point to point. So looking forward to visiting with family in Liverpool as well. My great grandmother was a British Home child leaving Liverpool at 8 yrs old. We found Maggie Hayden's (my) family!!! Debbie

Every single station in the country is on that map. In most cases the name of the station is the same or similar to the name of the village or town associated with it.

For cities, and we only have a few in this country, the city names are in large black letters over the city, with the stations in right place on the map.

Just keep zooming in.

Just keep zooming in. There are so many stations, the names are too small to see until you zoom in.

Correct, it currently only shows times up to 24th June. Just pick the same day of the week in June, it will almost certainly be the same or similar. I just did a check on http://www.nationalrail.co.uk/ for Monday 19th June, starting 09:00, and it showed me trains at 09:14, 09:46. 10:14, 10:46, 11:14, 11:46 etc. all taking 1h10.

National Rail app will list all the intermediate stops (York-London) for the service you are wanting to catch. Download the app or go to their website, type in your destinations, pick the train time, and it will list all the stops, and give you the various prices of the tickets. You can search a forward departure date out to about two months.
