I arrive by air at CDG airport on 12:15 pm, and my train leaves from Paris Gare Lyon station to Lyon at 14:00 pm. What are my options (cost and time effective) to get to train station in order to catch the train on time? Thanks!
I won't profess to know all the options, but I'm sure you would make it to Gare Lyon in time by simply taking a taxi. Your fare would be about 60 euros.
If you want a cheaper option than the taxis, search your trip at http://www.ratp.info/informer/anglais/ It is in English and will tell you the bus/metro options for getting from CDG to Gare Lyon.
One more thing. The metro/bus trip that I searched looks like it'll take 50 minutes. Whether you'll have enough time depends on how long it takes you to get your bags, get through customs and get on your way. If you make it out of the airport any later than 1:00, you should consider the taxi option.
Thanks for your suggestion. 60 euro of taxi is almost like my train cost from paris to lyon. i'll try for the bus/metro option. appreciate your help.
Go to the RATP site mentioned above to download and print a Metro/RER map for central Paris and a RER map that shows service to outlying zones, including CDG. Take the RER B to Chatelet-Les Halles and either the RER A or RER D from there to Gare de Lyon. Cost: 8.10 EUR.
Or take Air France coach (bus) #4 directly from CDG to Gare de Lyon. Buses run every 30 minutes and the cost is 14 EUR. Luggage goes in the lower bay so you don't have to schelp it yourself.
See here for the details: www.easycdg.com/pages/cdg_airport_accesspag.html.
Yes, you have plenty of time.
There is also a direct bus operated by Air France (but anyone can take it) from CDG to Gare Lyon. It is just a few euros more than the RER.
And there are direct trains from CDG to Lyon--in some ways the best option of all.
