My wife and I are staying in arrondissement 2 near the metro, but I understand that the metro doesn't start until 5AM. We should be at the airport probably by 4:45am. Any ideas? A 50 euro cab ride is pretty steep.
Thanks!

Paris Shuttle runs during these hours and can take away the hassle.
Check with your airline website too - for example EasyJet has an agreement with Paris Shuttle for a discount. If booked through the Easy Jet site.
If you book 30 days ahead you can have a double room at the Ibis at CDG for 59 euro, just a bit more than a taxi ride.
Well..you could always do what I did and and sleep at the airport...it's not the best sleep in the world, but how much of a sleep wil you get when you have to be at the airport that early anyway?
Also some hotels offer shuttle buses whcih are a bit cheaper than taxis..not much though
Since you would be paying night rates, a taxi is likely to cost more than €50.
You could take a taxi to either Gare de l'Est or Gare du Nord and a Noctilien (night) bus from there. #120 leaves Gare de l'Est at 03:30 and Gare du Nord at 03:33. It arrives at CDG2 at 04:10, CDG1 at 04:15, and CDG3 at 04:20. #140 leaves Gare de l'Est at 03:40 and Gare du Nord at 03:43. It arrives at CDG2 at 04:52, CDG1 at 04:59, and CDG3 at 05:02.
The fare would be four single Metro/bus tickets (a total of €6.00).
For information on the Ibis Hotel next to Terminal 3 go here. It is close to the free CDGVAL inter-terminal driverless shuttle train which runs 24/7.
