please help us figure out the best way to get to karloy vary from paris. I know we need to get a eurail pass, how do we book the individual tickets? we started on a german site which had english until it was time to book! If we buy our eurail pass from you, how do we do the rest. Thanks so much, Linda
You can look at flying. There is an airport in Karlovy Vary. I was not able to find any direct flight. You can either fly all the way or just to Prague and take Student Agency yellow bus from there. Train is somewhat complicated. At least three train changes. Deutsche Bahn does not give the price because the train ride does not originate or end in Germany. I think if you decide for train you can wait and buy the ticket once you get to Paris.
Or if you want to buy train ticket ahead you can divide your journey into two. Buy ticket from Paris to any German city where you will be changing trains. And then second ticket from that city to Karlovy Vary. You can do that on Deutsche Bahn website.
As much as I prefer trains to planes and can sleep well on night trains, in this case I suggest that you fly to Prague. It's a LONG train ride with multiple connections. It's very cheap and fast on a budget airline. Smart Wings, Czech Airlines, and easyJet all fly CDG-Prague. If you decide to take the train so you can save the cost of a night in a hotel, then I suggest that you either go Paris-Koeln-Usti nad Labem-Karlovy Vary, departing at 18:01 and arriving at 10:47, or Paris-Mannheim-Usti nad Labem-Karlovy Vary, departing at 19:05 and arriving at 12:47. Book Paris-Koeln and Koeln-Usti nad Labem on the German Rail site well in advance (up to 92 days allowed) to get discount fares. Do the same if you choose Paris-Mannheim and Mannheim-Usti nad Labem. You can wait until you get to Usti nad Labem to buy your ticket to Karlovy Vary.
