How to get from Naples airport-to train station-to Sorrento

My wife and I are traveling from San Francisco to Sorrento on two airlines with stops in Denver and Munich, and finally Naples. That part seems clear and relatively uncomplicated. What isn't clear is how to get from Naples airport to the train station (Napoli Centrale?), and thence to catch a train to Sorrento. The guidebooks, including Rick's, don't seem to deal with it. Is it that obvious? Is it as simple as taking a taxi from the airport?

You can take a taxi or a bus from in front of arrivals (either local bus #3S or airport shuttle ALIBUS ) to the train station.
Depending on your time of arrival at Naples airport, you may be able to take a
bus from the airport directly to Sorrento.
Here's the website for the bus company:

When I arrive at the air terminal I always go to the Tourist Information Office in the terminal and ask about methods of transportation to the city center.

Often you will have a choice. You need to find out if there are other choices and how much they cost and how long they take.

Hi Gary,
We traveled though Naples last September going to Sorrento and found the airport quite exciting! It's not the piece of cake the travel book makes it out to be. The bus going to Sorrento was full with passengers waiting in line for the next bus that was going to arrive in a hour and a half. We ended up taking the Alibus to the train station (first stop) and catching the Circumvesuviana to Sorrento. It was a hot day, lots of people, and very few English speakers. The Alibus might be your best connector. It will take you to the boat docks and you can catch a water craft to Sorrento (nice alternative if you have a nice day to be on the water). You will need a taxi after you get off the boat in Sorrento. The hotels are about a half mile away and it's quite a climb (high grade). Would not want to make the trek ladened with travel cases.
