I shall be on an Oceania cruise ship at the beginning of October this year and we shall dock at Honfleur. I know Honfleur is supposed to be interesting but I haven't been to Paris for years. Is it feasible to get to Paris in a day and how do I get there? We dock at 6.45 am and leave at 8 pm the same day. Thanks a lot. Jennifer
Busverts Calvados line 20 runs between Honfleur and Le Havre. There is a bus that leaves at 07:12 and arrives at 07:41, but your chances of catching it aren't good. The next bus leaves one hour later. There is a direct train from Le Havre to Paris that leaves at 07:59 and arrives at 10:10. Since you probably wouldn't be able to get to Le Havre by bus in time to catch that train, your best option would be to take a taxi from the cruise port to the Le Havre train station. The next train you could take leaves at 09:03. You would make a connection in Rouen and arrive in Paris at 11:40. On the return the last bus you could take from Le Havre to Honfleur leaves at 18:29 and arrives at 18:54. To catch that bus you would have to leave Paris at 15:50 and arrive at 17:57. You could leave Paris at 16:50 and arrive in Le Havre at 18:57, but then you'd need to take a taxi from Le Havre to the cruise port. IMO, the only way you can have more than just a few hours in Paris is to take taxis from Honfleur to Le Havre and back so you can take the earliest possible train to Paris and the last possible train back to Le Havre. FYI, the schedule is different on Sundays.
Wow, what great information. I shall need to mull this over before I make any decisions. Thanks a lot for the information.
