can someine give me directions on how to get to Tours from Caen in France by train? What is the cost and how much time does it take?

The easiest-to-use online timetable for Europe is here.
I use it to calculate times and see connections.
Seeing prices, and buying online, is trickier. The short version is, go to tgv-europe.com and search there. When it asks you to select your country, say Great Britain. (If you select the U.S. you will be bumped to the inferior RailEurope site.)
You will probably have to take a train all the way into Paris, cross town to another train station, and take a second train to Tours.
