How to get from Basel airport to train station

My husband and I are flying in to Basel, then taking the train from Basel to Colmar. I understand there is a bus that takes you from the airport to the train. Need help figuring out what bus to take and if we buy our ticket at the airport or just pay when we get on the bus. We won't be spending any time in Switzerland, so we're not planning on having any "Swiss money". Thanks for your help.

The EuroAirport Basel/Mulhouse/Freiburg airport is actually in France.

The Number 50 bus is the one that runs between the airport and the SBB Hauptbahnhof, usually has flags flapping above the destination screen. Here's about using a machine.

I usually stay in Basel so never have to pay for Basel buses - they are free to hotel visitors.

There are green machines at each bus and tram stop from which to buy tickets. I've never used the machines but I have looked at one and they look pretty simple, and take both euro and franc.

Looks like the airport (Europort) and the train station (Basel Bahnhof SBB) are in two different adjacent zones (13 & 10). A two zone ticket is 4,20€. www.bvb.ch. The bus takes 17 min. Here's the schedule.
