Hello. I believe it should be possible for a senior (UK based) to get a discount on Italian trains - but I have no idea how to get one. I have signed up to Carta Freccia and have my card numbr, but it seems to make zero difference to the booking price when I try to buy a ticket on the Trenitalia website. Is there something else I need to do? Am I doing something wrong?

Make a search, pick a train from the list, choose a fare, enter your Freccia Card # here: https://i.postimg.cc/9QLwXBp0/Immagine-2025-11-29-115057.jpg
If you can't see the above box, you picked a deeply discounted fare for early birds that can't be combined with the Carta Freccia. Those cards are meant for locals that get tickets right before boarding and want to save something off the walk-up fares, not for tourists that buy months in advance.
